Clayton house fire was intentional, police say

Clayton police said Monday that a fire at a vacant house early Monday was intentionally set.

CLAYTON, N.C. — Clayton police said Monday that a fire at a vacant house early Monday was intentionally set.

The one-story house, at 389 W. Main St. in Clayton, caught fire sometime after 1 a.m. Monday, causing damage on the inside.

Investigators are asking that anyone who might have seen any suspicious vehicles or people in the area between midnight Sunday and 1:45 a.m. Monday to call the Clayton Police Department at 919-553-4611 or Clayton Crime Stoppers at 919-359-8479.
