CARY, N.C.CineBistro, a luxury movie theater that allows patrons to dine at their seats, is planning a late summer opening in the Waverly Place shopping center in Cary.

I got a chance to check out the theater, which is still under construction, last week.

When doors open, diners will place their orders with servers up to 30 minutes prior to the movie’s showtime. After the previews, servers will no longer be delivering food. Instead, you can go out and order from the menu at the concession stand. You will get a pager and that will tell you when your meal is ready for pickup.

Now, let’s chat about the menu. I spoke with Isaac Stewart, corporate executive chef of CinéBistro, who filled me in on what to expect. Lump crabcakes, steak, housemade hummus, Korean wings, eggplant dip, beet salad are all on tap. So this sounds a lot like a restaurant that happens to have a cool movie theater.

Look for ticket prices around $14.50.

And they won’t be catering to the younger crowd. The plans are to only show films PG, PG-13 and R. That means no G-rated features. The audience for this venue will definitely skew older.

I'll keep you posted about the progress!

Note: There are two luxury theaters in Cary. CineBowl and Grille, which is a little more family-friendly with an arcade and bowling alley, opened last week in Parkside Town Commons.
