FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman was charged with child abuse after her 4-year-old child was injured during a Wednesday night wreck, police said.

Lisa Michelle Lovell, 41, didn't belt the child into a car seat, and the child suffered minor injuries when the car slammed into a pole on Ramsey Street near Fernwood Drive shortly before 11 p.m., police said.

Lovell was charged with misdemeanor child abuse, failure to secure a child in a vehicle restraint system and possession of marijuana. Police said they also suspect her of driving while impaired but are awaiting the results of a lab report.

Lovell's vehicle crossed two lanes of traffic before hitting the pole, police said.
