PITTSBORO, N.C. — Chatham County commissioners voted Monday evening in favor of a countywide ballot letting residents decide the fate of liquor-by-the-drink.

The commissioners asked the Chatham County Board of Elections to put the issue on the ballot within the next 120 days.

The only places in Chatham County that have liquor-by-the-drink are Fearrington Village, which was authorized by special state legislation, and a few specific facilities.
