Chapel Hill police investigate reported sexual assault

Police were investigating Friday a report by a 19-year-old woman that she was sexually assaulted early Tuesday.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Police were investigating Friday a report by a 19-year-old woman that she was sexually assaulted early Tuesday.

The woman told police she was walking north on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Municipal Drive when a man grabbed her from behind and forced her into a nearby car. After the alleged assault, he drove her to a location on U.S. Highway 15/501 near the Chatham County line and released her, she said.

There was no report of a weapon used in the alleged assault.

The woman couldn't provide a description of her attacker, other than he wore all black clothing, gloves and a ski mask. She also couldn't provide a description of the man's car.
