A new sculpture stands tall in downtown Raleigh.

Fred Fletcher Park, located on the corner of Glenwood Avenue and Washington Street, is home to the city's newest public art, "Redbird."

At first, the 13-foot-tall sculpture looks like giant flowers, but Asheville artist Harry McDaniel said as viewers move around the piece, they will eventually see a cardinal, North Carolina's state bird.

It is the first of a number of changes set for the park. A water garden and landscape plans are also in the works.
