Authorities investigate death of Cary woman found in garage

Cary police said Nalini Tellaprolu, 51, was found by her family at about 3 p.m. Thursday in her home at 2107 Roland Glen Road. No arrests have been made in the case, and Cary police did not release any other details Friday about how Tellaprolu died.

“Our thoughts are with Ms. Tellaprolu’s family and friends as we work diligently to determine what happened to their loved one,” Cary Police Chief Tony Godwin said in a statement. “We want the community to know we’re all working around the clock as this case is priority No. 1 for Cary Police Department.”

Tellaprolu's death is the third murder in Cary in 2015.

Godwin says investigators believe Tellaprolu was killed in her home.

"I can tell you specifically. All I can tell you is that the evidence we received in cooperation with the Medical Examiner's Office when the autopsy was performed certainly led them, the medical professionals, to deem it a homicide," Godwin said.

Authorities released audio from the 911 call Saturday afternoon. The caller, who was accompanied by Telloprolu's teenage son, said they found Tellaprolu dead in the garage of her home.

Neighbors told WRAL News that Telloprolu also has a daughter that lives out of state.

“We opened the garage and his mother is lying in the garage," he said. "Yes, like right outside the car. We haven't walked into the house; we just opened the garage and she was just lying there."

Cary police urged anyone who was in the Roland Glen Road area on Thursday to call police. Anyone with information in regards to the investigation is asked to call the Town of Cary Police Department at 919-469-4636 or Cary Crime Stoppers at 919-460-4636.

Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,500 for the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes and callers do not have to identify themselves.
