There's an easy way to help out hungry kids this summer. Cary Towne Center is collecting non-perishable food items and raising money for its Feast Not Famine Food Drive.

Through Aug. 18, the mall will be collecting non-perishable food items at a bin at the mall office. You can also buy an "end hunger" bracelet at the office or make a cash donation. Through July 28, you can donate at local Food Lion stores too. Donations benefit the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

According to the campaign, one in five children under the age of 18 go hungry; more than 111,000 kids in the state receive free or reduced lunch at public schools; and North Carolina is ranked the sixth worst in the nation for food hardship.
