Cary street reopens after water-main break

Spokeswoman Susan Moran said a 6-inch water main broke in the 500 block of Walnut Street, near Ryan Road, around 2:45 a.m. The break was likely caused by a worn-out pipe.

A detour was set up, and police redirected traffic in the area, Moran said, while water service to some homes and businesses was disrupted.

The road was repaired and reopened shortly before 5 p.m., Cary police said.
