Snow isn't in the forecast, but it is scheduled to definitely be on the ground later this month at Cary's Bond Park for the annual Winter Wonderland event.

For the fifth year, Cary will offer a series of one-hour sledding sessions for ages 3 and up. It takes place from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Jan. 9, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Jan. 10. At last check, most of the sessions were full. There are slots left for the 3:30 p.m., Jan. 9, session, and the 6:45 p.m. and 8 p.m., Jan. 10, sessions. The cost is $18 per person. The event typically sells out. Pre-registration is required.

Snow My Yard covers the ground with snow made from  ground ice. It's refreshed each morning and between sessions when there's time. There are a couple of sledding areas - one from the top of the hill and another that starts midway down for younger sledders. Parents can help their kids, but tandem sledding is only allowed on the shorter slopes.

Cary's website has more information and registration details.
