Cary’s first and only brewery not only plans to stay true to its British roots, but is also part of a growing Triangle trend.

Fortnight Brewing Company opened on Tuesday, specializing in English style beer.

“It's just amazing,” said Glenn Cutter, who runs the website NC Beer Guys. “We've been doing this for a couple of years and we were worried at first if there was going to be enough activity to justify a blog on our work just promoting NC craft beer. And it's been a huge explosion.”

The Triangle had 11 breweries in 2010. Now there are 28.

“I think the consumers want those local products,” said David Rogers, director of distribution for Raleigh’s Big Boss Brewing Company.

Such is the mindset Fortnight’s owners believe will contribute to their success.

“The craft breweries are slowly eating into that market share that the big breweries have,” said David Wilkinson, co-owner. “It's getting bigger and bigger each year.”
