As I wrote earlier, Cary's Marvelous Music Family Series returns this season with several shows, starting with the Cary Ballet Company and 3D Jazz Project's "A Mini, Very Cary Christmas" this month.

As part of the performance series, the town also will offer a themed, hands-on arts and craft project before each show. The crafts are designed for ages 2 to 12 with an adult. It all takes place at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave.

The series also includes performances from the Children's Theatre of Charlotte on Jan. 25; Opera Carolina's The Three Little Pigs on Feb. 22; and a concert by the Billy Jonas Band on March 16.

The fee for each of the craft projects are $13 for Cary residents and $17 for non-Cary residents. The crafts include making a pig or wolf mask before seeing "The Three Little Pigs" and making handmade instruments before the concert with Billy Jonas, who is known for making music from household objects.

Kids who register for the pre-show craft class and up to three members of their family will get $3 off admission and premiere seating to the related show. Tickets to the shows are $8 each.
