Carolina Puppet Theatre plans five shows at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre

Flit and Bartlet of Kazoom Puppet Theatre
Ms. Poly and Ms. Ester ended their run as Kazoom Puppet Theater late last year, but as I wrote then, it didn't mean they were all done entertaining kids and families.

The show, or course, remains at the Holly Springs Cultural Center on the first and third Tuesday of each month. And now the long-time entertainers will head to the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for shows starting this Wednesday, March 5.

Carolyn Johnson (Ms. Poly) and Helen Dawkins (Ms. Ester) feature stories, puppets and songs in their hour-long shows best for preschoolers to early grade schoolers. The star of the show is Bartlet, the yellow-haired, Carolina Hurricanes-loving puppet. Kids bring pictures or cards for Bartlet and put them in a mailbox on stage to be read during the show. And kids get to go on stage to act out the day's story.

Wednesday's show is 11 a.m. at the Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St., next to the bowling alley. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance on the centre's website or at the Wake Forest parks and recreation window in the lobby of the Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St. On the day of the event, you also can buy tickets at the door.

Future performances at the Renaissance Centre are scheduled for April 2, May 22, June 4 and June 18.
