Car ends up in Durham creek after sliding off road; no injuries reported

Durham police said a man and his 5-year-old child escaped injury early Tuesday morning after the Ford Mustang they were riding in ran off Erwin Road and overturned into a creek.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police said a man and his 5-year-old child escaped injury early Tuesday morning after the Ford Mustang they were riding in ran off Erwin Road and overturned into a creek. 

Authorities said the wreck happened shortly before 10 a.m. near the intersection with Morreene Road. The driver and child were able to get out of the vehicle on their own.

Investigators said it appears that the driver of the car was speeding prior to the wreck. A tow truck pulled the car clear of the creek shortly before 11 a.m.
