Car Crashes Into Waffle House in Durham

A car crashed through the front windows of a Waffle House restaurant in Durham in the early hours of Sunday morning.

DURHAM, N.C. — A car crashed through the front windows of a Waffle House restaurant in Durham in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The driver told police that she was wearing high heels and her foot slipped, hitting the accelerator. The car hit the foundation and shattered two windows of the Waffle House, at 3501 Hillsborough Road, around 2:50 a.m.

There were people inside the restaurant at the time, but no one was injured. The driver was also okay, officers said.

The accident caused between $10,000 and $15,000 worth of damage to the Waffle House, authorities said.

Police have not released the name of the driver and said no charges have been filed at this point.
