Cape Fear High School student charged after bringing gun to school
For the second time in two weeks, a student in Cumberland County was arrested for bringing a weapon onto school grounds.
Posted — UpdatedThe Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said that a school administrator and school resource officer went to the parking lot at Cape Fear High School Monday, after someone reported smelling marijuana.
Deputies said the administrator asked student Chase Levi Macfadden, 17, if there was any marijuana or anything illegal in his truck. He responded no, but a search of the truck resulted in the discovery of a .22 caliber rifle covered by a blanket in the back seat.
Mcfadden was arrested and charged with felony possession of a firearm on school property. He was released into the custody of his parents and was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
