Busloads of supplies help Hurricane Matthew victims
Three busses and two trucks piled high with cleaning supplies, canned food, baby essentials and toiletries made their way to eastern North Carolina Thursday to help Hurricane Matthew victims.
Posted — UpdatedWRAL partnered with Go Triangle, United Way of the Greater Triangle and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Wednesday to fill the Go Triangle Storm Relief Bus to help community members in Rocky Mount, Wilson and Selma.
Community members were encouraged to attend a drive at North Carolina State's Carter-Finley Stadium.
On Thursday, volunteer Savannah Blake helped to unload the donations that were piled high on each bus.
"Maybe if I had a jet pack I could probably fly to the top, but that would be the only way (to reach the top of the donations)," she said.
The goods were separated into categories - cleaning supplies, toiletries and food - and were delivered to those who need it most.
