N.C. consumers snap up last $650,000 in appliance rebates

The state's Energy Star appliance replacement program offers a waiting list for possible future funds.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Consumers across North Carolina snapped up $650,000 in appliance rebates over the holiday shopping weekend.

The state’s energy office had made the rebates available from other unspent federal stimulus funds.

People who missed out on the latest rebates can be put on a waiting list for possible future rebates. Consumers can visit the program website or call 1-877-379-7323.

According to the energy office, most of the latest rebates - more than $231,000 – went for 1,545 refrigerators.

Second most popular were clothes washers at $172,600 for 1,726 machines.
