WASHINGTON, N.C.Fountain Powerboat Industries plans to expand its manufacturing operations in Washington, adding 411 jobs over the next five years.

Fountain Powerboat has its executive office and manufacturing facilities on a 65-acre campus along the Pamlico River in Beaufort County. The company already employs 75 full-time workers there.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be moving our manufacturing operation of Donzi and Proline (boats) from the state of Florida to Washington,” John Walker III, who serves as president of Pro-Line and Donzi as well as chief operating officer of Fountain Powerboats.

Fountain Powerboat will invest $5.1 million in the project, and the new jobs will pay average wages of $35,657, plus benefits.

Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job and investment targets to obtain the funds.

Fountain Powerboats has been in business since 1979 and, in 2008, added an entirely separate product line, Baja Boats, in Washington.
