RALEIGH, N.C. — Another sales tax holiday is set for this weekend. This time, it's for appliances.

The Energy Star Tax Holiday, which begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday and runs through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, works a lot like the school supply tax holiday held in August. This time, it applies only to certain Energy Star-rated appliances.

This weekend, no sales tax will be charged for clothes washers, freezers, refrigerators, central and room air conditioners, air-source and geothermal heat pumps, ceiling fans, dehumidifiers and programmable thermostats.

There are a couple of caveats. Customers must pay for the items this weekend, even if it has to be ordered for a later delivery, and customers can't request a delayed shipment.
