FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Guilford Performance Textiles announced a plan to close its Fuquay-Varina plant, transferring 115 jobs to Kenansville. The change is effective Dec. 31, a release from the company said.

“After extensive consideration, it is with great sorrow we announce the closure of our Fuquay-Varina plant,” CEO Shannon White said.

Some Fuquay-Varina employees will transfer to the Kenansville location. Those who do not will be offered outplacement assistance, the company said.

The consolidation will increase efficiency for Guilford, the company said, citing increases in the price of energy and raw materials which have impacted the industry.
