Cumberland County Business Council Names Interim President

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Gary Cooper, owner of All-America Mortgage in Fayetteville, is taking over as interim president of the Cumberland County Business Council.

Cooper replaces William Martin, who resigned on June 14 at the request of the group’s board after a failed attempt to recruit an ethanol refinery project.

“Gary is the right person to lead the organization through the transition,” said board Chairman Kirk de Viere. “He understands the mission of the Business Council and how it relates to our members and this community.”

Cooper has been involved with the business development group since 1995 and also is a former chairman of the local Chamber of Commerce.

“There are so many great things happening in our community that we should all be very proud of,” said Cooper. “It is a wonderful time to live and work in Cumberland County and it would be my honor to work with our members, volunteers, staff, and funding partners to continue the positive momentum.”
