Plastics Firm To Add 60 Jobs in Alamance County

RALEIGH, N.C. – Nypro Carolina will create 60 jobs and invest $6.5 million in a manufacturing facility as it moves to the town of Mebane from Graham.

The state of North Carolina is helping underwrite the cost of the relocation and expansion with a $150,000 One North Carolina Fund grant.

Nypro Carolina, which manufactures plastics, is moving to a different facility in Mebane due to an inability to expand an existing facility in Graham, Gov. Mike Easley’s office said in a statement announcing the move. Both towns are located in Alamance County.

The 44 workers at the existing facility will transfer to the new one and an additional 60 jobs will be added over the next three years.

Nypro Carolina, which is part of Nypro Inc., makes plastic components for consumer electronics, healthcare, packaging and automotive industry customers.

The average wage for the new jobs will be $552 plus benefits. The current average wage in Alamance County is $542 plus benefits.

“Nypro has been pleased to have operations in Graham and the Asheville area for many years, and we look forward to continuing to grow in the supportive state of North Carolina,” said Ted Lapres, Nypro’s chief executive officer.

One North Carolina funds require a match from local government and organizations.

The Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce, Alamance County and the city of Mebane participated in the recruitment process.
