Toyota supplier to expand again in Durham
Auto parts manufacturer AW North Carolina said Monday that it would ramp up production at its Durham plant and add up to 250 jobs over the next year.

The latest expansion by AW, which makes transmission components for Toyota, follows an April 2010 announcement that the company would invest $100 million in the plant and create more than 360 jobs.
“We are excited to continue growing in response to the success of Toyota’s products. Adding another 250 people to AWNC’s 1,500 full-time and temporary workforce is exciting and speaks well of our team members’ past performance and commitment to quality,” AW Vice President Will Collins said in a statement.
The company plans to invest $14 million in the plant to expand production, much of which will support a Toyota plant in West Virginia, officials said. This project is expected to create jobs at other U.S. parts suppliers as well.
AW operates an 830,000-square-foot plant in the Treyburn Corporate Park in north Durham. The company has had a presence in Durham since 1998.
