MATTHEWS, N.C. — Gov. Mike Easley paid a visit to Central Piedmont Community College on Tuesday to dedicate the Joe Hendrick Center for Automotive Technology.
The center offers training and instruction for technicians in the auto industry.
“The Joe Hendrick Center for Automotive Technology is much more than a place for education,” Easley said. “It represents the kind of partnerships North Carolina needs to continue building among the growing business, education and economic development sectors so our state prospers in the global economy.”
The college is the largest in the N.C. Community College system.
The automotive center covers 34,000 square feet. It was built in partnership with Rick Hendrick Automotive Group. The center is named after Rick Hendrick’s late father.
Partners with Central Piedmont include BMW, Toyota, Lexus, General Motors and AC Delco.
