RDU passenger traffic flat in 2011
Passenger traffic at Raleigh-Durham International Airport was virtually flat last year when compared with 2010, officials said Thursday.

MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Passenger traffic at Raleigh-Durham International Airport was virtually flat last year when compared with 2010, officials said Thursday.
More than 4.54 million passengers traveled through RDU in 2011, which was fewer than 30,000 more than the preceding year, Airport Director Michael Landguth told the RDU Airport Authority.
Airport spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin said the airline industry is becoming more streamlined. Carriers are reducing aircraft and the number of seats in an effort to be leaner and more profitable, she said.
