SALISBURY, N.C. — A Food Lion store in Cary is among 113 slated to close as owner Delhaize America restructures the supermarket chain, officials said Wednesday.

Of the 113 stores to be closed, three are in North Carolina. Two of those three are near Asheville, and the third is at 973 N. Harrison Ave. in Cary.

All of the stores will close within 30 days, officials said. The closings will result in 4,900 layoffs.

The company also plans to close a distribution center in Tennessee, shifting those operations to centers in Dunn, Salisbury and Elloree, S.C., officials said.
