GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The driver of a day care bus that struck and killed a teacher at Meadow Lane Elementary School in Goldsboro won't be charged, police said Wednesday.

Brandon Kincaid, 28, died at Wayne Memorial Hospital on Feb. 9 after being hit by a private bus driven by Ray Batts, 56, an employee of Small World Daycare Center.

Goldsboro police said Wednesday that the investigation of the incident is complete.

Kincaid, a second-grade teacher, was also a youth pastor at Neuse Baptist Church in Kinston. His wife is expecting the couple's first child in June, according to Facebook posts.

"He was a very caring teacher and very dearly loved," Wayne County Superintendent Michael Dunsmore said following the incident. "These are very, very difficult situations. What we're trying to do is support those students now and, as we move forward, help them get over this."
