Burr talks Iran on "Face the Nation"
Republican Sen. Richard Burr made an appearance on CBS News' "Face the Nation" Sunday to talk about U.S. negotiations with Iran.
Posted — UpdatedDuring the discussion with Bob Schieffer, Burr said he thinks the U.S. is rushing a nuclear deal with Iran.
"I think now is the time to push back from the table and ask ourselves: Is it really time to trust the people we're negotiating with – the Iranians?" he said.
Burr said he would rather postpone Tuesday's deadline for a good deal than rush a bad one.
"It doesn't seem to be headed in the right direction," Burr said. "Clearly, with a deadline of Tuesday, I'm concerned with what we might give away."
He also said Iranian-backed rebels can't be allowed to gain a foothold in Yemen, where a coalition of countries are mounting attacks to stop them.
"Well, clearly, we're on the verge of a civil war," he said. "I had a long conversation with the ambassador last week. Ten countries have come together, primarily because they can't allow Iran to take a foothold in Yemen."
