Broughton educator named Wake Teacher of the Year

A Broughton Magnet High School teacher was named the 2021-22 Wake County Public School System Teacher of the Year.

A Broughton Magnet High School teacher was named the 2021-22 Wake County Public School System Teacher of the Year.

Caroline Olson, a special education teacher, has been teaching in the school system for seven years. Olson has worked at Broughton since 2015. She also serves on the North Carolina Superintendent's Teacher Council.

Olson received the WCPSS Diane Kent Parker First-Year Teacher Award in Special Education in 2016.

She was one of 10 finalists in the running for Teacher of the Year. Finalists went before an interview committee to decide Teacher of the Year prior to Wednesday night's ceremony.

In addition to several prizes, Olson will participate in the Go Global NC international study program in Chile in 2023.
