RALEIGH, N.C. — People coming by car to North Carolina State University might need to find an alternate route to get on campus in the coming days.

A water main broke sometime Monday night on Dan Allen Drive between Sullivan Drive and Cates Avenue.

Dan Allen Drive has been closed to southbound traffic and will have only one northbound lane open until the main is repaired, said Christine Klein, spokeswoman for N.C. State’s Transportation Division.

Repairs are expected to begin Wednesday and take about five days, Klein said. It was unclear if the repair work would continue through the weekend, she said.

Drivers are urged to avoid Dan Allen Drive between Western Boulevard and Hillsborough Street. They can use Gorman Street and Pullen Drive as alternate routes to get through campus, she said.
