Babiology, the children's consignment store in Five Points, is the home of a new gathering for nursing moms and pregnant moms who want to know more about breastfeeding.

This month, the store at 2012 Fairview Rd. near downtown Raleigh, began to host La Leche League breastfeeding cafes from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays. These are casual, drop-in programs that are free. You're welcome to chat and bring your lunch. And babies are always welcome. It's a good chance to get some support (which, at least for me, is critical to a successful breastfeeding experience).

La Leche League in Wake County offers breastfeeding cafes elsewhere in the county.

The RTP Breastfeeding Cafe meets from noon to 1 p.m. every Wednesday at the Diapering Doula, 4109 Grace Park Dr. in Morrisville.

The Western Wake Breastfeeding Cafe is from noon to 1:30 p.m. Fridays at the Itsy Bitsy Baby Spa, 1055 Darrington Dr., Cary.

For more information about the cafes, contact informaton and just breastfeeding support in general, check out La Leche League of Wake County's website.
Elsewhere in the region, the Carrboro Breastfeeding Cafe is from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays at The Red Hen, 201 Weaver St., in Carrboro, according to the website for the Chapel Hill and Carrboro meetings.
And a Fayetteville Breastfeeding Cafe is on the fourth Friday of the month at 10 a.m. at MacPherson Presbyterian Church, 3525 Cliffdale Rd. in Fayetteville, according to the website for the Fayetteville meetings.
And check our breastfeeding resources page for more information about other offerings in the region.
