Break in precipitation expected by Tuesday afternoon
Precipitation will continue through the area until about noon Tuesday, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. Clouds will begin to thin out toward 1 p.m. and move east. By 5 p.m., most of the region should be free of cloud cover.

The current system will shift out toward the northeast, clearing the rain out for a dry Veterans Day on Wednesday.
“The farther west you are, the earlier you’ll see some sun,” Gardner said. “The farther east and northeast you are, the longer it’s going to be.”
Veteran’s Day will see temperatures hold in the mid-60s with a low of 50 degrees; no precipitation is in the forecast.
Thursday will bring rain back into the area, but not as much precipitation that moved through the area last weekend.
“We’re tracking a front for Thursday; this one’s not going to bring a lot of precipitation to the area, but there may be just a few sprinkles,” Gardner said.
Light rain is expected around noon Thursday but will move out by 4 p.m. Thursday will bring the week’s highest temperatures at 70 degrees during the afternoon, but the temperature will take a nosedive, falling toward the low 40s by nightfall.
On Friday, mostly cloudy skies will fill the area early during the day, making way for sun in the afternoon. Highs in the mid-60s and lows dipping down into the 30s Friday night are forecast for the beginning of the weekend.
