<b>FORT BRAGG, N.C.</b> — A Fort Bragg soldier was killed Friday in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense said Monday.

Sgt. 1st Class Anthony Venetz Jr., 30, of Prince William, Va., died in Parwan province of injuries sustained in a non-combat incident, officials said.  No details of the incident were released.

Venetz was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

HOUSTON (AP) — Fast-moving thunderstorms pummeled southeastern Texas on Thursday for the second time this month, killing at least four people, blowing out windows in high-rise buildings, downing trees and knocking out power to more than 850,000 homes and businesses in the Houston area.
