Bragg paratrooper killed in wreck

An 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper was killed in a weekend wreck in Fayetteville, the military said Tuesday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — An 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper was killed in a weekend wreck in Fayetteville, the military said Tuesday.

Sgt. Jazmon L. Armstrong, 29, of Longview, Texas, died in a single-vehicle wreck on Shaw Road early Saturday. The incident is under investigation by military and civilian authorities.

Armstrong was a fuel handling specialist with Company A, 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team.

He joined the Army in July 1999 and was assigned to Fort Bragg in January 2007. He recently completed a 15-month deployment to Afghanistan, and he also deployed to Iraq from January to April 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Daniela Armstrong of Fayetteville, and his parents, J.L. and Gussie Armstrong, of Longview, Texas.
