WILSON, N.C. — Bond was raised to $1 million Monday for a 56-year-old man charged in the death of 20-year-old Isabel Calvo Palacios.

Gregory K. Parks was arrested in August and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree kidnapping, despite the fact that investigators have yet to locate Palacios’ body. She has been missing since July 31.

According to police, Palacios was last seen at Parks' 4710 Ward Blvd. home.

Parks was convicted by a Wilson County jury in 2013 on two counts of participating in the prostitution of a minor. He was released from prison after the North Carolina Court of Appeals overturned the convictions, citing lack of evidence.

He has several other previous convictions, including manslaughter and attempted first-degree and second-degree rape.

Prosecutors said they are not seeking the death penalty against Parks.
