Bocce ball tournament helps honor Cary man

RALEIGH, N.C. — On Sunday, people will gather for an annual bocce ball tournament to honor the memory of a Cary man.
Joe O'Connell of Cary passed away from complications from Cystic Fibrosis in November 2009.
A year before his death, the Roly Poly sandwich shop owner joined together with family and friends to start the Joey O Bocce Classic to help raise money for Cystic Fibrosis research.
The tournament has grown and last year they raised $36,000.
The tournament is Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cardinal Gibbons High School's football field.
You can still register your team or join as an individual. And you can still go out there, support the cause and check out some great bocce.
There will be bounce houses and games for the children, raffles and food.
