Blount Street reopened after gas leak

A construction crew hit a natural gas main in downtown Raleigh Monday afternoon, closing part of Blount Street to traffic, police said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A construction crew hit a natural gas main in downtown Raleigh Monday afternoon, closing part of Blount Street to traffic, police said.

Martin Luther King Boulevard was initially restricted to one lane in each direction after the 1 p.m. incident, and both southbound lanes of Blount Street were closed.

By 3:30 p.m., Martin Luther King Boulevard had been reopened to traffic, but one lane of Blount Street remained closed south of the intersection, police said.

All lanes had reopened by 8 p.m.
