VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. — At the request of the family, Bishop William Barber II will deliver the eulogy at the funeral of Donovon Lynch, 25, who was shot and killed by police on March 26.

Lynch is related to popular musician Pharrell Williams, who wrote on Twitter that his cousin was killed amid violence in Virginia Beach.

Donovon Lynch, age 25, was shot and killed by a police officer in Virginia Beach. His cousin is Pharrell Williams, a popular musician, who tweeted a memorial for his family member.

"The loss of these lives is a tragedy beyond measure," Williams' tweet read. "My cousin Donovon was killed during the shootings. It is critical my family and the other victims' families get the transparency they deserve. Va beach is the epitome of hope and we will get through this."

Lynch was among several people who were shot late Friday night. Eight people were injured total. Lynch and a woman named Deshayla Harris were killed.

According to his obituary, he was a youth volunteer and member of Faith World Ministries. He attended a Christian high school, and he graduated with a Bachelor's degree from UVA at Wise.

He loved serving as a Youth Volunteer Coordinator for the "Something in the Water" festival, and he played basketball, football and pool. He also loved fashion.

The memorial service will be held at 9:45 a.m. Monday at Wave Church, 1000 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
