Plans for a one-day event in June to feature birthday party vendors and other providers for celebrations for kids has been canceled.

In an email, organizer Alicia Turner tells me that she made the decision to cancel what she'd called the World's Largest Children's Party Expo after lots of thought and feedback from vendors.

"Although a favorable amount of vendors signed up to participate, there isn't a sufficient amount to justify the venue size and create the celebration of life atmosphere as advertised," she writes. "A great deal of vendors already or anticipated this to be their most busy season and were hesitant with obligating to the event."

Turner said she surveyed 200 vendors. The survey concluded that vendors are interested, but the time of year wasn't right, she wrote.

"Despite cancelation, we will continue to market the idea and pursue this event at a later time," she writes.

The event had been scheduled for June 13 at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. Turner, a mom, says on her website that planning her son's birthday parties has become a passion for her.
