Bike, cash stolen in Rocky Mount armed robbery

A 35-year-old man told Rocky Mount police that two men armed with a handgun stole his bike and $18 in cash shortly before midnight Wednesday.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A 35-year-old man told Rocky Mount police that two men armed with a handgun stole his bike and $18 in cash shortly before midnight Wednesday.

Police said that The victim was riding his bike in the 100 block of Ridge Street when two men approached him. One brandished a handgun and demanded the victim lie on the ground. They searched the victim and took money from his pockets, police said.

The men left in the direction of Columbia Avenue, one riding the Huffy bicycle and the other on foot.

Police described them as black men between 18 and 22 years old. One was 6 feet tall, weighed about 200 pounds and had short hair. He wore a white T-shirt and white shoes. The second was 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed about 150 pounds. He wore a plaid shirt, dark blue jeans and white shoes.
