Before the story airs: WRAL's 'College Guide' for parents

As parents, we spend years saving up and preparing for our kids to go to college. And – as teenagers – we spend years preparing as well! Wondering – will the college I choose REALLY make a difference in the long run? Will it help me get a better job? Make more money? Be more marketable?

A lot of us in the newsroom are parents, too, and we were ALL in the same boat when it came to searching for colleges. So, we all had a lot of questions, and I’m willing to bet many of you do, as well.

I sat down with hiring managers from some of the top companies in the country – many have their headquarters right here in Raleigh – and asked them point blank: Does a degree from a bigger, better, more expensive college lead to a better job? Does it open more doors? Does it make YOU, the hiring managers, take a second look?
