FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man in his 30's was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after he barricaded himself inside an apartment, prompting an evacuation, police said.

Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the Britt Lake Apartment complex, at 2845 Attorney Drive, at about 12:15 p.m. and determined that a man was by himself inside an apartment.

According to officials, the man may have attached an explosive device to a door in the unit.

It was unclear whether the man was armed.

Police encouraged residents in other portions of the apartment complex to stay in their apartments during the incident.
