South Granville High, G.C. Hawley Middle School and Creedmoor Elementary were locked down as a precaution after a bank robbery nearby. 

<b>CREEDMOOR, N.C.</b> — Three schools in Granville County were locked down Tuesday after a bank robbery took place nearby, a school district spokesman said.

Creedmoor Police Chief Tim Benware said someone robbed the RBC Bank branch at 608 N. Main St. just before 10:30 a.m.

Benware said the suspect showed a small handgun and ordered bank personnel to fill garbage bags with cash. He fled the scene in a maroon Chevrolet Impala, according to police.

Spokesman Stan Winborn said that vehicle was abandoned on Brassfield Road near G.C. Hawley Middle School.

The school district locked down the school, along with  South Granville High School and Creedmoor Elementary School as a precaution. Winborn said there was no reason to think students were ever in danger.

Crime Stoppers of Granville County is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest or conviction in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 919-693-3100.<br />

Police say a woman was shot in the upper thigh while two men inside the home were arguing. EMS stabilized the woman and took her to ECU Health in Greenville. Both men suffered gunshot wounds during the altercation.
