what do you like about where this team is? Well, I'm not sure as a coach, you are ever happy where you're at and you never have enough time to begin the season to get your club ready? And, but we got so many new faces, there's so many people, I looked out there the other day and it's like, it's, it's not whether you're a rookie or a freshman or whatever, if you've earned the right to start, it doesn't really matter what position you are, you're the best player there. And uh, but when you look out there and it's like eight positions on the field and seven of them have never uh played here pretty much, and, and uh I think it was like four freshmen and there's a learning curve and it's not just a learning curve for the game, which is part of the mistakes we're making right now, but it's a learning curve of teams playing together. And uh that takes a while to build to get that teamwork and that chemistry and to build on winning and this league is, is unforgiving if you can't do that because every game is going to be come down to something and if you can't make plays at certain times, then you're gonna be on the short end more than you'd like. And uh, so we got a ways to go and I like the players, they're good players, uh they go about it the right way, but we just, we just got to get together and uh try to find that mix to figure out how to win. Did you like Notre dame being the first A CC series on the schedule or why not get it out of the way? Well, I think this league is so tough and I think the league is, it doesn't matter who you play in this league is so tough. I was talking to Caroline this morning, I think they got pit in town week called this morning about the weather this weekend and I didn't even ask who they have in town. But everybody you play in this league, there's nobody you say, I'm glad so and so is in town. But I think the first three weeks we're playing like maybe florida state Carolina. I mean florida state Notre dame as you said. And then Georgia tech has picked the winner the other division and it's uh, we're gonna have to start playing better quick or we're gonna find ourselves in a little bit of a hill to climb. Things that need to be improved. We've got to get better defensively defensively, last year's team, probably the best defensive team I've ever been a part of or probably ever ever seen. And this year, like say with so many new guys uh and some of those new guys have been asked to play different positions and these guys are gonna have to get together and figure out a play as a team, win as a team. I think they're committed to each other as far as winning, but we have so much newness, they're gonna have to figure out how to get that defense has got to turn around and there's no area of the game right now that I feel like we're playing as hopefully as well as we're going to play, but defense is where we need to start turning around. How did you like, you know, coming off the weekend of of a sweep like you had, how do you like the just to kind of bounce back and how they were able to go about business? Well it is how you show up at the ballpark and this team has showed up at the ballpark every day. They show up too early work, they like to play, they like the game some of these guys have been out of the game for a while, josh Hood, He was in the Ivy League for two years, he's been without baseball for two years. And so some of these guys are hungry and some of these guys are new to college baseball for the first time. And and and that's uh so they have they don't have a problem coming to the ballpark and and wanted to play. But uh any anybody can have a it's tough to lose and when we got swept that was a tough thing for those guys but I was proud of the way they bounced back at Greensboro and uh they just got to keep grinding because it's gonna be, it's gonna be a season uh full of teams they're gonna come in here and and offer challenges and Notre Dame is one of those teams. They they pretty much have everybody back from a team that probably should have gone to Omaha all last year and I could have won the national championship. So this is gonna be a tough challenge. Uh Just extremely well coached. Uh Link jarrett and and our staff have been friends for a long long time. He's one of the top coaches in college baseball and he's done a heck of a job at Notre Dame. And um they play extremely good defense. They play extremely good defense. Don't give you extra outs and uh can play the small game and can beat you a lot of ways. But the thing that stands out the most is our pitching, their pitching at their Iara is miniscule. They don't, their bullpen has like zero E. R. A. And none of the starters have over a one. Er A so you don't plan on scoring all runs will make it a tough challenge for us. That's why we're gonna have to pitch and play defense this weekend. Have a chance to know he shouldn't have played uh Tuesday begged me to start before the game and I wouldn't do it. But we had another guy go down and uh so he looked at me and and then that face of his I couldn't I couldn't not do it. So I put him in the game and he's probably playing it about, you know, I don't know what percentage it is, but maybe 80% 75 80. And he's a smart player, He's a good player, He's smart. So I think he can play within that injury and and help he, he makes us different out there. Finally Sam Highfield coming into the season. Obviously as a freshman, what he was able to do last year, what's the hardest thing going into your sophomore season and you know, being the friday night, well, you know, pitching on saturday is what he did last year and it was good to, you know, read johnston and his buddy went out on friday night and, and, and, and did the job for us. And so Sam's in a new role but it's a role he's good with, you know, Sam's just very even kill. He doesn't get excited about too excited about anything. He just goes about his business practice every day, maintenance, everything he does, he just goes about his business. So he's the perfect guy for friday night and uh, but hopefully he can command his fastball and he'll have to be really good to hold another name now Casey thank you

Hi, everyone. Meteorologist Anthony Baglione here in the Wral Severe Weather Center. Let's talk about our forecast as we head into the upcoming week. As we head past this weekend, we have a couple of things there, what we're tracking as far as sunshine returning. So it's been definitely kind of a cloudy weekend for most of us on the whole. Should be a very pleasant start to the week though. Some sunshine getting through warmer temperatures, nineties by the time we get into our Thursday and then a holiday weekend, rain chances very early starting on, let's say Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We're just tracking the potential for some rain heading into the holiday weekend. I'll talk about that here in just a second. Otherwise, let's talk about what we're looking at here. Future cast wise, there could be a spotty Sprinkle as we get into tonight for the most part though. Uh, just about everyone's quiet. Something to keep in mind though. There could be some fog out there for your Monday morning commute. We should start off with a little bit of fog. We'll start off with partly cloudy skies and really keep a mix of sun and clouds through the majority of the day. It'll be dry though to start the week and actually a pretty good day. If you want to just enjoy out on the patio or something, it should be fine. Maybe firing up the grill tomorrow night. Sounds kind of good. We go to 80 degrees for a high temperature tomorrow. 76 at seven o'clock. And then we start to see a warm up once again. 84 on Tuesday, 88 on Wednesday, we should hit 91 by the time we get to our Thursday 86 on Friday. And I know a lot of times when that heat kind of comes back into the forecast that begs the question, is it gonna feel gross as you walk outside? I really don't think it will the next couple of days it does get back in the humid kind of category though for us Thursday, Friday, we're not quite too tropical where we could be during the summertime months. But I think for our Monday, Tuesday, even into Wednesday, it should feel fine as you're headed out. Just a little bit of humidity. There's what we're looking at here the next seven days. 80 on our Monday, 84 on Tuesday, we go to 88 Wednesday 91 Thursday. You see those rain chances starting to come in there. Thursday, Thursday night, a stray shower or a thunderstorm. The best chances at the this point look to come in Friday night, Saturday during the morning, we may get a break. Saturday afternoon, Sunday afternoon doesn't look like total drenching conditions, but just enough where if you're traveling, you may want to keep an eye on the forecast here with a couple of chances of showers and storms.
