Autopsy: Spring Lake teen shot in back
A Spring Lake teenager, whom two Fort Bragg soldiers are accused of killing, was shot three times in the back and once in the stomach, according to an autopsy released Thursday.
Posted — UpdatedVincent Carlisle Jr., 17, was shot once in the upper back, twice in the buttocks and once in the stomach, the autopsy found.
Pvt. Sebastian Gamez and Spc. Christopher Blackett, both 20, face first-degree murder charges in Carlisle's death. They have been denied bond.
Carlisle's family reported him missing after he left home Aug. 14 and didn't return. Deputies found his body four days later in some woods off Shady Grove Road in Harnett County.
Investigators have also accused Gamez and Blackett of dumping Carlisle's body, but they haven't said what led them to the two soldiers or what a possible motive might have been.
Gamez and Blackett were neighbors of Carlisle, his parents and grandparents. Carlisle's grandmother said the three sometimes played basketball together, but she didn't know how well they knew each other.
Carlisle had transferred to Johnathan's House Christian School in Fuquay-Varina after attending Overhills High School in Spring Lake.
Gamez, of Hidalgo, Texas, and Blackett, of Vista, Calif., joined the Army in 2009 and were motor transport operators in the 82nd Airborne Division. Neither has deployed overseas.
