The Autism Society of North Carolina will host a holiday party this Saturday designed for families with children with sensory issues.

The party is noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, at Camp Royall in Moncure, which is about 40 minutes from Raleigh in Chatham County. The Autism Society of North Carolina opened the 133-acre Camp Royall in 1997 and hosts summer camps and other programs there.

During Saturday's holiday party, families will be able to make appointments to see Santa so they won't have to wait in line. There also will be hay rides, cookie decorating, a campfire with s'mores, holiday crafts, face painting, games in the gym and more. There's also an option for family camping that night. The events all are designed to be sensitive to children with sensory issues.

The fee for the party is $20 per family of two, plus $5 for each additional family member (though no family is turned away if the fee is a hardship. Donations are welcome). You can RSVP on the autism society's website.
