ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A state trooper and a Halifax County sheriff's deputy said they seized counterfeit DVDs and CDs from the vehicle of a Charlotte man stopped along Interstate 95.

The Halifax County 911 communications center received a report around 2 a.m. of a vehicle traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-95. A trooper stopped the vehicle near mile marker 168, at N.C. Highway 903, and Deputy W. Murphy arrived as backup.

Murphy said they noticed the driver, Andre Edwards, 26, of Charlotte, acting nervous. They asked for permission to search the vehicle, and Edwards consented.

Inside, Murphy said, they found 305 counterfeit DVDs and CDs, an HP computer and a NetGear zip drive.

Edwards was charged with felony retailing records. He was being held in the Halifax County Jail under a $1,000 bond. His first court date was set for July 21.
