Authorities investigate possible heat-related death at Fayetteville factory

Sherion Winfrey, 63, worked in a part of the factory that does not have air conditioning. Due to the heat from the ovens and the size of the factory, keeping the building cool would be impossible, plant officials said. Fans and water stations were used to help cool employees, officials said.

Winfrey, a 39-year employee, collapsed Monday morning and later died at a hospital. Her cause of death has not been determined.

Authorities are determining whether certain policies and other safety measures were followed.
