Authorities in Durham investigate multiple shootings

Authorities in Durham were investigating three shootings early Saturday that happened within about 3 miles of each other.

DURHAM, N.C. — Authorities in Durham were investigating four shootings early Saturday that happened within about 3 miles of each other.

The first shooting happened at about 4:15 p.m. Friday evening at Lawson and Wabash Streets. According to authorities, a woman was shot and drove herself to a hospital. She is facing non-life-threatening injuries.

About five hours later a person was shot at Oakley Square Apartments at Cheek Road and Hardee Street. The person's name has not been released, but authorities said they sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

A third person was injured in a shooting at Wedgedale Street and Walton Avenue just over an hour later. According to police, the shooting happened outside the Beautiful Beginnings Child Care Center on Alston Avenue.

According to police, not long after the third shooting, a gunshots were heard on Wedgedale Avenue. A resident said she looked out of her window and saw a young man lying in the street.

No information about possible suspects or arrests has been released.

An investigation of the shootings is ongoing.
